Prayer is the engine of change. In our world today, everybody desires a change in one thing or the other. Some people desire to change their living standards, financial situations, marital situations, spiritual life habits and so on. But the only problem in man’s quest for change is that man is trying to effect change by his own will power, efforts and energy, not knowing that the engine or driving force of change is prayer. It is rather unfortunate that in a world where everyone desires a change in life and destiny, few people are there that desire prayer and even fewer of the few actually do pray. Despite man’s lack of desire for prayer, prayer has always been and still remains the driving force of change. It is the one thing that can change a man’s life and the circumstances around him. The need for prayer cannot be overemphasized. Prayer changes circumstances and transforms lives. Let’s therefore pray without ceasing for if change will occur, it will be by fervent, importunate prayer. [Reference: I Thessalonians 5:17 and Luke 18:1].
The Almighty God, our Father is an ever present help in time of need. With the many distortions in man’s view of God today, many people think that God is just one Supreme Being sitting up there in heaven waiting to send anyone to hell for the least error they make. But the truth is that even as our God is the Judge, He is also a Loving, Caring and Compassionate Father who is ever ready to help us out in our times of need. He is not only willing to help us but He also has what it takes to help us out easily and so as God’s children, we should not panic when faced with troubling situations. Reflecting we will see that we have overcome many tough situations in the past by the help of God and for some of them, until now we cannot explain how we survived or escaped, for we have seen many strong men brought to nothing by similar challenges. Let’s therefore see how that God has always been present, is still present and will always be present even in our darkest moments to help us out. [Reference: Psalms 46:1].
There is greatness in serving God. There’s no one in this earth who deep down does not want to be great in one thing or the other; but the truth is that if we want to be great in this life and transcend into the one to come, we must serve God passionately and diligently. This fact has been proven in the lives of the great men that have walked upon this earth. Jesus Christ Himself being the greatest of men to have walked the earth earned His greatness by His unrelenting service to the will of God, his disciples and humanity as a whole even to the point of dying on the cross. Instead of seeking self recognition and the applause of others, and instead of trampling on others in our ego, pride and desire to become great, let’s simple imitate Jesus Christ in serving God and doing His will all the days of our short life here on earth and our greatness will be guaranteed.
